Blast Onboard NATO Helicopter Kills One

The International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) said one person was killed and eight others injured in a blast on board a military helicopter in the east of the country today.

ISAF had earlier given a higher casualty figure. It said the cause of the blast was unclear.

The helicopter was on the ground when the explosion occurred.

ISAF said there were 26 people on board the helicopter.

The landing site has been secured by Afghan and NATO soldiers and an investigation is under way.
