The U.S. Justice Department said in a statement on March 8 that a warrant has been issued for the seizure of a Boeing 737-7JU aircraft owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft. The company is led by Kremlin-linked businessman Igor Sechin. According to the statement, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York authorized the seizure, finding probable cause that the plane was subject to seizure based on violations of the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA) and recent sanctions issued against Russia over its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
